Sketchbook: Mermaids of #Mermay

By

An assortment of non-traditional mermaid characters that were created for an Instagram challenge, each based on multiple random prompts drawn from an idea generator. Particularly difficult to include were concepts like “hoop skirt” and “rifle” but I found a way!

Sketchbook: Kitsune

By

This mischievous kitsune, or fox spirit, is on its way to have some harmless fun tricking humans in a nearby village. It probably can’t make too much trouble, since it’s only powerful enough to still have one tail so far.

A series representing the 12 traditional birthstones as unicorns, with character designs displaying the typical characteristics associated with their respective gemstones.

These were originally created for a “Junicorn” challenge on Instagram. They are available on a variety of products in my Redbubble store.

Cover Illustration for “Why”

By

Cover Illustration for the short fantasy story, “Why,” written by Maggie Allen for author Janine Spendlove and published by the creator-run Silence in the Library Publishing as part of a Kickstarter backer bonus. The story is a bittersweet character study that takes place in Spendlove’s “War of the Seasons” fantasy universe. I worked with both Maggie and Janine to make sure I captured the style and spirit of the characters and setting.
